    • and much more

Is laser therapy safe and do patients experience any pain during laser treatment?

Laser Therapy was developed over 35 years ago and has no known side effects. Our Laser Therapy equipment is FDA approved and certified. Laser Therapy is completely safe and painless. No heat is generated, so the laser is safe for use virtually anywhere on the body. Laser Therapy can be used on patients of all ages and can be safely administered with patients who have pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, shunts or plastic/metal implants.

How does laser therapy work?

Laser Therapy uses a small, hand-held laser to send light (photons) into the patient's injured tissue. Once the photons target the injured tissue, they stimulate and energize the cells to repair and strengthen at a remarkably fast rate. Our Laser Therapy equipment does not heat and destroy tissue. Instead, our equipment uses low-energy lasers that provide enough energy to affected cells to give them the ability to repair themselves, but not so much energy that they are destroyed.

Laser Therapy is similar to photosynthesis in plants. In photosynthesis, sunlight is absorbed by the plant and converted into energy that the plant uses to grow. Similarly, Laser Treatment Therapy uses light to penetrate the skin's surface and underlying tissues. Laser Therapy provides light energy to the body's cells to increase their function and to safely and easily stimulate the body's own natural healing power.

What results can patients expect?

Most patients notice results such as decreased swelling/pain and increased range of motion in just one treatment. Depending on the nature and location of injury additional treatments are necessary for complete recovery.

How long does treatment take to apply?

Smaller joints/areas (i.e. neck, elbow, knee etc) require less time than larger joints/areas (i.e. hip, knee, lower back etc). The number of treatments necessary for healing also varies depending on the patient, the severity of his or her condition, and his or her individual response to treatment. Prior to treatment Dr. Marvin will provide you a specific treatment plan after a thorough health history and physical examination.
